MathType 6

MathType 6 LogoThe first post on my website i.e. blog was about LaTeX (i didn’t translate it yet), which is one of the ways to type mathematical formulae in the computer. In that post, I mentioned easier, much simpler variant of typing formulas – and that’s with Microsoft Office package which is on many computers today, based on the Microsoft Windows operating system. In this post, I’ll briefly overview it and describe what you need to install/configure and how you can speed up your formula typing. In my tutorial, I will use software for which you must pay – MathType 6. In the Office package itself there is add-on Equation Editor by which you can also type mathematical formulae, but if you write a lot of formulae/equations, with MathType software, you won’t go wrong because it has the possibility to put shortcuts into the toolbars, via mouse or keyboard and many options available, that are adjusted for many mathematical formula “types“. Also, I used Office version 2003 (old but stable).
Buy MathType 6 and install it. (more…)

ASCII poster

ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a standard for information transfer – more common if the information is in English language. “Peasent“ says – it’s a text as we see it on computers, electronic devices and equipment which show some text. With that text (combination of numbers, letters and signs) we can create different shapes and pictures – that’s called ASCII Art. It’s a classic way to express themselves, like pirate groups which have their own logotypes and .nfo files which contain information about some pirated software. One example of that file pirate group Razor1911. (more…)

3D desktop – BumpTop

3D Desktop - BumpTopI have found one nice-looking application on the Internet, so I wanted to try it out in practice, to see how it looks and how it works. It’s an application for creating a 3D Desktop – BumpTop. On the first look, it’s an application which needs attention, very good looking, has some “physics” in itself for creation of virtual 3D space, as you have it right in front of you. All files, folders and documents you collect in piles and then you search through them as you need them. The idea at the first look is very good and innovative, but when you try it out in practice, you see it isn’t so good. Physic table and 3D space is something totally different from virtual 3D space and that’s clear to everyone, but the company is right with the idea to try to promote to this software. It’s not functioning. It requires too many unneeded clicks to get some file or folder which is buried deep in piles or simply rambling around. (more…)

Remote Desktop – TeamViewer

Remote Desktop - TeamViewer LogoRemote Desktop, put simply, is a connection between two computers where one controls the other in a way where one sees the screen of other. Actually, it’s like you are sitting in front of that computer although physically you aren’t there ( of course some things are disabled), but most of things can be done and you are still in front of your own computer, at home. If you were in a situation where you must repair the software on somebody’s computer you can just imagine how much Remote Desktop could make things easier because you don’t need to transport that computer because of some banal problem which you can simply solve at your home computer in the comfort of your own chair, whilst saving you time and money with the same productivity (software only, of course, because for hardware (unfortunately) you must have physical access to computer). There are a lot of solutions for Remote Desktop, Windows operating system have one, there are web solutions like LogMeIn (this company is also popular because of program Hamachi for creating virtual LAN networks), and there are “normal” (programs) solutions from other companies representative of which is TeamViewer.
