From pure curiosity, I decided to create my own in Adobe Photoshop to see how it will “come out“. And for me, the result is more than good (although it must be a few centimeters bigger, but that’s not some problem because everything is in source .psd file).

The only problem maybe that using a Google logotype, but for “home-work“ that doesn’t really matter. If you wish to do this type of visit card for commercial services, check whether it is allowed or not. I will be kind and put source file (.psd file) for Download: Google Visit Card. Enjoy.

At the end of installation, you can leave checked the Start MathType Now, you can see how it looks, the interface of the program. The window will pop-up, first about useage and with some help tips, you can just click on OK.

When you see it at “first look“, you can freely close it. Open Office Word. First ,what you’ll see is ‘Permission for Macro Options’. You can check the box. Always trust macros from this publisher and then click Enable Macros.

With that you gave permission to the program so that it can run in Microsoft Word and use some shortcuts, eg press Alt+Ctrl+Q for inline formula (that one is in line – between some text). You’ll get the window of MathType.

You can write some formulae, see the menus that they are hiding (eg you can change the colour of formulae).

When you write your formula press on “X“ or just push Alt+F4 on the keyboard. You’ll get the question, would you like save the changes to the document, check ‘Don’t show this dialog from now’ and click on ‘Yes’, which means whenever you type some formula and press Alt+F4 (”X“) your formula will be saved and printed in a Word document.

If you want to edit it, you just double-click on it and there is window for editing.

WARNING: If you press Spacebar, you’ll get an instruction that says you won’t get a space (as you would get it in Word itself) because that space would “crash“ with some automatic formatting of the program, so if you want to simply space, press Ctrl+Space.

Also, one of the main possibilities of the program are shortcuts – whole formulae are available at a single click. For example, we are writing some lecture on Squared equations and we frequently need the formula shown below. All we need to do is type in our formula, select it, and then with mouse just drag it onto the Toolbar.

If you want speed up your typing more, you can set keyboard shortcuts on any key/shortcut in the Toolbar – it’s enough to press right click – Properties.

Then, in the space ‘Enter new shortcut key(s)’: press the keys which you want to be the shortcut for the mentioned formula/shortcut (WARNING: you must be careful that shortcut isn’t already in use (for example Ctrl+C is reserved for Copy), because if you aren’t careful about that there will be confusion about shortcut(s)).

The sense of this post is how to create an ASCII poster. There are many programs for converting pictures in ASCII code – one of them you can download from my website – ASCII Generator, but the “real tool“ for the creation of an ASCII poster is on website ASCII poster.

All you need do is click on Create!, import the picture from a computer (it doesn’t need to be big proportions/dimensions), choose the size of the paper and download the .PDF file which you want and just print. The website will make the formation of letters/numbers/signs on it’s own so if you look at that poster from afar you will see your uploaded picture. But, if you step much closer to the poster you’ll see just some unknown signs. How that looks you can see in my example down here. On the left, there is original photo, in the middle it’s ASCII poster of that photo and on the right closer picture of that same poster.
